The Remembered Garden
The Remembered Garden is my visual meditation on the ways that memory shapes perception. Photographed through layers of translucent materials, familiar flowers and plants dissolve into forms that exist in a liminal space, as if they are being recalled from memory rather than seen in the moment.
I approach a garden and its flowers as a psychological landscape of memory and the passing of time. When I am observing, it feels more like remembering. As forms and colors peek through glass and obscured veils of light, they feel like impressions made by memory. Observation and recollection feel intertwined for me in this space. Ordinary plants and flowers become vestiges, illustrating that what we remember is often not a true visual record of what we have seen, but a reconstruction shaped by emotions and the passing of time.
